Project 365: Day 30

Today was yet another fun-filled day in the Gibson household. We spent the morning and afternoon at home waiting for the snow to stop and the roads to clear so we could take our weekly family field trip to the grocery store. We all gathered in the ole front wheel drive sleigh and headed off to town.

I couldn't resist getting this picture...

He was totally fascinated by all the fish.

This Week's Pictures

I have been slacking this week. I have managed, however, to snap some pictures here and there. I've decided to take some time away from the computer the last few days and just relax while I have some free time and it's really helped alot.

Day 27:

And here are my two favorites :-)

Dalen wasn't too happy about having to pose for yet another picture. But you will see even less cooperation later on in this post.

If I ran a reality tv show, here is where I'd insert a really long commercial break just to make you wonder what will happen next...Muawwhahahah!!

Day 28:

I'm thinking I might refer to Travis as Mr. Fix it
or just simply Handyman. Yes, no? You do, you don't?
(Sorry, just alittle Corky Romano joke.)

Day 29:

Dalen got to spend the afternoon with his Nana.
Aren't feeling the lack of cooperation yet? Just wait.

Me and My Mommy :-)

And for the Grand Finale....

Drumroll please.....

Ta Da!

And and more just to show that he really is a cute kid when he'll let me get a picture ;-)

Until next time...

Project 365: Day 25 & 26

Day 25:

I spent a few hours doing research about my camera. During my search I found a great blog called The Pioneer Woman. There are different aspects to her website such as cook
ing, gardening, etc., but I am really into reading about her photography. I learned a great deal, but whether or not I can really implement it while taking pictures is another story ;-) She kind of makes me want to move out west somewhere. And I love how she refers to her husband as Marlboro Man.

It's pretty much a lost cause trying to take a good "artistic" picture of Dalen. He is to the age where he knows what I'm doing, and this is what I get (if he'll even look at me)...

Day 26:

Today has been a fun-filled day of doing laundry. I've got a pot roast going the the crock pot which smells pretty good too. I read somewhere that a lady called herself an aspiring domestic diva. I kinda like that.

We haven't went anywhere today because we got a surprise snow. So we've spent the day inside playing...that is Dalen playing, and Mommy playing with her camera.

Maybe after Daddy gets home we'll bundle the boy up and go outside to play in the snow for a bit.

Have a great Tuesday!

Project 365: Day 24

This morning we had special singing at our church and afterward had a potluck dinner. I am so glad that we found our little country church and now we have an extended church family there too.

Project 365: Day 23

Wow! Blog editing is HARD! I was up until about 1:30am last night with Travis trying to figure out HTML codes, but it looks like we've got it figured out!

Thank you to Travis and Anna for your help with my blog!

Today we took a trip to the grocery store. Once things pile up in the cart, yes cart, not buggy, Dalen starts reaching for things to play with. It just so happens that the choice for today was a box of Hamburger Helper.

Caution Tape Needed

I'm trying to edit my blog and I really suck at it. I hate HTML!

Project 365: Day 20 & 21

Day 20:

Today I thought it would be funny to see what it would be like to swaddle Dalen, just like when he was a little baby. I know, kinda dumb, but it was good for a
laugh. Dalen even thought it was funny, but wasn't about to let it go on for very long. It took a good sized baby quilt to do the job!

Today was also Weight Watchers day! Good news. I lost 3.6 pounds this week! I worked really hard at it, and I did alot of exercising. I am even starting to see some results from working out. I just hope the pounds continue to come off.

Day 21:

I finally broke down and decided to buy a one month subscription to Picnik. I edited today's picture using some premium features. I'm not totally sure about the subscription yet, but I do like what I was able to do with this one...

We had a wonderful lunch at McDonald's with my Mom, or to Dalen, it's "Nana."

Help A Mother Out

I just posted a badge on the right side of my blog called Help A Mother Out. As I was reading about this organization I realized how blessed I have been to have everything I've ever needed for Dalen. I couldn't imagine not having enough diapers to run him through the week, not knowing when I'd even be able to buy them at all. These people host diaper drives and accept donations to buy diapers for less fortunate babies. Although this organization doesn't focus their efforts in our area, wouldn't it be nice if there was something like this locally? Just a thought.

Project 365: Day 19 & 20

Day 19:

Today I had my first experience with jury duty. I was a nervous wreck! Of course, that's just the way I am and the way I handle the unknown. I got there at 8:45 am, but ended up having to wait until after 10:30 for anything to happen. They told all of us to wait in a courtroom, then had us all gather in the hallway only to have them decide they weren't ready for us so we were sent back to the "waiting courtroom". The whole experience sort of left me feeling like a criminal myself they way the staff treated us. They were rude and unorganized but acted like we were the stupid ones. There was a much publicized murder trial going on at the time also. The defendant, who was later in the afternoon found guilty, walked past me in the hallway twice escorted by a cop. It was worse than being in a funeral home. Just knowing that she is probably going to prison for the rest of her life. It's such a waste. So they finally called us all in the regular courtroom and it was just like on tv. (I know that sounds so redneck lol.) The judge announced that the defendant had entered a guilty plea so we were not needed in this case. Then we all had to sit there while the man was sentenced to five years in prison and immediately handcuffed and escorted out by a cop. Wow! It was so dramatic. I'm definitely not the type to be able to handle that sort of thing everyday. I have one more day left on my subpoena, but I am in the jury pool for the entire year. Ugh!

Travis got good news yesterday at the dentist....no cavities! Yay Travis!

In our house Travis and Dalen have almost a nightly tradition going on where they watch You Tube videos of Moose A. Moose sing songs. Dalen's favorite is called "Everywhere I Go."

Day 20:

Today we had a play date scheduled with Dalen's friend, Owen. They had a great time playing together.

It's great that Dalen has someone his own age to play with on a regular basis. Plus it gives me a chance to spend time with my friend, Anna. :-)

365 Project: Day 17 & 18

Day 17:

Trav's parents came up to visit after church. We met them at Bob Evans for lunch then came back to our house so they could play with Dalen some. Grandma McCoy made Dalen a very special present...

She made him a puppy dog quilt. She did a really good job on it. I wish I had the patience to learn how to quilt.

Dalen also had a great time playing with Paw Paw McCoy...

Day 18:

Apparently Dalen had enough to eat at lunch...

I feel the same way, Dalen. :-)

Project 365: Day 15 & 16

Day 15:

Yesterday was full of delivering Avon to my customers so I didn't have time to post anything. I did manage, however, to snap one picture...

Me and The Husband.

It wasn't until just now that I realized I hate the word "hubby." It just sounds so stupid. Sort of like chubby, I guess it's just kind of downgrading. No offense, just a personal feeling. :-)

Day 16:

Today was a joy-filled day of grocery shopping, cleaning, laundry, and cooking. ;-) We did buy a new game for our Wii. We got EA Sports Active. I saw it advertised during last week's episode of The Biggest Loser. (Love that show!) I s
et up my fitness profile and did my first workout this evening. It totally kicked my butt!

As you can see I've got ALOT of work to do ;-) My legs feel like Jello.

Day 14

Today has been interesting. We went to town to have lunch with my Mom, Dalen calls her "Nana".

These are a series of pictures of Dalen in the car as we were leaving.

Now you can see why he is so much fun.

As we were at lunch, our Pastor and his wife were there. Cheryl fed Dalen fries at their table while we ordered. Then, I completely dumped a large coke all over the floor...how embarrassing. I had my camera in my purse which made it alot heavier so when it slid off my arm, the tray went and down goes the pop all over the place. Oh well. Everyone in the restaurant came over to our table to say hi to Dalen. Even a State Trooper tried to give Dalen his hat to wear. He said Dalen almost made him want to go home and have another kid. We get this wherever we go. Dalen has some kind of effect of people. He is such a people person. I don't know where he gets that. Travis and I are both ones to stay out of the spotlight. But when we go to town, there are people that come up to him and say, "there's my little buddy" and we don't even know their name. He is a local celebrity.

Dalen and Nana

Day 13

I don't really have alot to talk about. I feel like I'm on the verge of exhaustion. I was able to take a nap this afternoon, but I can't seem to fall into a good sleep so I can feel rested. I haven't felt this tired and drained since I had a newborn in the house.

Here's pictures for the day...

Shouldn't it be called "terrible ones", not two's?
(He's getting ready to start laughing)

I love him though!
He's playing with a yarn holder by the way, not his own toys. Anymore he'd rather play with remote controls, or just anything in general that he knows doesn't belong to him and knows he probably shouldn't have.

Here's my scarf so far. I'm getting there.

Travis was luckily able to fix my dryer! That was a relief!

Tomorrow I'm starting back to Weight Watchers. Wish me luck! I'm going to have a hard time giving up my Pepsi.
Project 365 Days 11 & 12

Today and yesterday have been crazy. It's Avon order time, and that always creates alot of work aside from my normal activities. I've spent two days calling people. Most have completely forgotten about it, or have just plain lost their book. Such is life...

Day 11: When we were getting ready for church on Sunday, Travis had gotten Dalen dressed while I was getting ready. The shirt was so small his belly was hanging out, so I asked if he'd get him another shirt. Same thing. So I decided it was time to switch out his clothes. Any mother knows this is not fun and it's a ton of work.

The Mountain Of Clothes!

While I was doing laundry, Dalen was doing this...

I was just about finished with the mountain when my dryer started making a squealing sound. :-( Travis said not to use it until he gets home to look at it. Hopefully it's nothing major.

Day 12: I have decided to look into freezing fruits and vegetables so we could stock up since Dalen goes through alot so we usually end up buying too much and some goes to waste, and it wouldn't be such a bad idea if Travis and I started eating more of them too. I asked my MIL about it since she always has a garden and cans. She sent me a website called Pick Your Own. It tells all about freezing and canning just about everything. Today I tried my hand at freezing pears.

The key to freezing fruit is this handy dandy stuff called Fruit Fresh. It is all natural, and it keeps the fruit from turning brown while it is being frozen.

It was time consuming, but it think it will be a money saver. And it's good to know that we will have fresh produce and not have to worry about chemical preservatives.

I still have a bag of apples to peel and freeze, but I'll just do that tomorrow. I've been so busy I haven't had time to do any of the Wii Fit since Saturday :-( I have managed to knit a few rows here and there on my scarf though. It's turning out really nicely. I'll post pictures of my progress maybe next time. Have a great Tuesday! I think it's Tuesday, right?
It's So Cold!

It is 8 degrees outside! It's not even right! There is even ice in the river.

On our way to church this evening, I was trying out how my camera would do with night pictures....here's what I got. Pretty good, right?

Sorry, not much to say tonight. Until next time...

Lazy Saturday

Not much going on today. It's been a lazy Saturday. Travis was nice enough to let me sleep in...thank you Trav! Later on we went to Wendy's for lunch...

(The dog represents Bella, she is always close by when
Dalen is eating so she can get whatever he drops.)

Lunch was pretty good. After we got home I decided that I'd better be doing some Avon work. This snow has really put a hurtin' on me because I couldn't get out and hand out books for this campaign. I did get some out, but not alot. But I'll get 'em next time....I hope. It has been pretty nerve racking because it doesn't matter how hard you work or how much time you put into it, it all depends if people order. But, I'm staying optimistic. This is what I signed up for. And yes, my desk is a mess, but it's an organized mess ;-)

I used a website called Picnik that my friend Anna mentioned on her blog to edit these pictures with. It's a really neat website.

Have a great weekend!
Let It Snow!

Ok, let it snow AFTER Travis gets home from work! I've heard that we got around 6 or 7 inches since yesterday afternoon.
08 Jan 10

Dalen was also busy yesterday too.

He helped me make dinner...

And Daddy read him a book...

Exciting right?

So on to today.
08 Jan 10

I was able to snap a shot of Dalen that is probably one of my most favorite of him.

So, the knitting project of the scarf that I posted last week did not go so well. I couldn't figure it out for anything. Maybe one day. Yesterday I found a new scarf that I'd like to make. And good news! It's not as hard! Here's a pic...

It's called "Gathered Scarf". I got the pattern from a blog called "Bag 'N' Trash" (I know, I know).

Until next time...
Taking pictures is a workout in itself!

Dalen has been a handful today! Just trying to get one good picture of him took about a half hour and I ended up taking a total of 20 all together. I don't know where he is getting all this energy, but I want some.

So today, Dalen had a job to do...it was a hard job, and he officially had his name changed from Dalen Ochocinco to Marvin Lewis. Go Bengals!

I have been working out like crazy on our Wii Fit. Yesterday I made it to 30 minutes. So today I thought I'd push myself even further, which in the morning I will be wishing I hadn't, to 40 minutes. I also signed back up for Weight Watchers again today. So 2010 = a new me. The hardest part for me will be my portion sizes and not drinking pop. But I know, with time, that I can do it.

Just to be more accountable, here is an awful "Before" picture to show how much I need to do this.

Wish me luck!
Snow Day!

We got a couple inches of snow overnight. This was the first ti
me that Dalen was able to go out and see what the hype was all about. He was not sure what to think...

By the time we got back inside, he'd had enough of the hat though!

Today was also a monumental day in our household. Get this...Dalen fed himself dinner!!!

I'm so proud of you little buddy! Keep up the good work!

Let The 365 Project Begin!

Ok, so starting out I realized just how hard it would be to take a photograph of myself and a toddler at the same time. So this is a project that will be of miscellaneous pictures, probab
ly mostly of Dalen. Here we go!

January 1st, 2010...Happy New Year!

2 Jan 10...
Santa brought him this Vtech turtle for Christmas. He loves it!

See, I'm already doing a bad job. I didn't take one yesterday. :-( Sorry.

4 Jan 10..today!
I have more than one to make up for yesterday :-)

Here is Dalen. He likes to file all my important papers.

Elvis, I mean Dalen, has left the building.

Me and my buddy :-)
I must say "buddy" alot because he has been walking around saying it lately.
